William R. Bennett, III, Esq.
William R. Bennett, III has extensive experience litigating and arbitrating all types of marine and shore based disputes throughout the United States involving personal injury, wrongful death, contract disputes, charter party disputes, insurance coverage issues, groundings, collisions, sinkings, strandings, salvage, fire and cargo disputes.
He graduated from the State University of New York at Maritime College at Fort Schuyler with a B.E. in Naval Architecture and Unlimited Third Mate's license from the United States Coast Guard. He worked aboard various vessels in the capacity of Third Mate, Second Mate (limited tonnage) and Master (limited tonnage), including oil tankers, ocean-going tugs, dredges and yachts.
He attended St. John's University Law School and graduated in 1992. He is admitted to practice in the state courts of New York and New Jersey; the federal district courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York, the District of New Jersey; the Courts of Appeal for the Second and Sixth Circuits; and the Supreme Court of the United States. He has served as arbitrator and mediator for personal injury and contract disputes.
He has represented the interests of numerous P&I Clubs and their members, Lafarge North America, Inc., Blue Circle, Inc., Zurich Insurance Company, CNA/MOAC Insurance Company, Chubb Group of Insurance Companies, Commercial Union Insurance Company, Menorah Insurance Company, Atlas Insurance Group, The Swedish Club, Tommy Hilfiger (USA) Inc., Waterman Steamship Co., Lash Marine, Empire Harbor Marine, numerous Lloyd's underwriters and Yusen Sea & Air Services, Inc., among others. |
